Sports Injuries
Many physical complaints arise from injuries sustained in sports. Understanding the biomechanical principles involved in specific sports helps us to prevent injury and restore functional integrity and stability through rehabilitation. Chiropractors manage sports injuries for all participation levels and ages. Using advanced techniques, appropriately applied for the age of each patient. Some of these injuries will require a rehabilitation program to ensure that the cause is correctly managed and that the injury is completely resolved and therefore less likely to return.
Soft Tissue Therapy
Long-term chronic injuries may require the application of specific types of soft tissue therapy to restore proper function to the body.
Active Release Technique (ART) is a technique used to treat soft tissue and movement problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension from the doctor’s hand with very specific patient movements. By observing how muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments, joints, and nerves responded to different types of work, treating doctors are able to get great results treating a vast array of conditions. Some common conditions that can be treated with ART are headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow. ART is a great treatment option for over-use injuries.
Corrective Exercises
At Loyola Chiropractic, we teach our patients how to perform special "blueprint" exercises which can help strengthen and correct the irregularities in their body which may be causing pain. Many of these corrective exercises can actually be performed in the comfort of your own home to help improve the effectiveness of your chiropractic care and spinal correction plan. In addition to skeletal misalignment, you may be experiencing pain that is caused by muscles and connective tissues which are out of their proper place. Other types of pain such as back pain, neck pain, and headaches are caused by muscles and tissues that are being used improperly, causing injuries over time. In each case, targeted corrective exercises and stretches from our experienced chiropractor will help you feel good while also helping your body achieve balance and health.
